INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO MAGIC PLANET

An industrial visit of MBA T1 2017- 19 MBA batch was held on 6th July, 2017 to MAGIC PLANET, KINFRA Film & Video Park, Kazhakuttom, Trivandrum. The main objective of the visit was to get familiarized with the concept of Blue Ocean Strategy and to understand the effectiveness of its implementation. It is the world's first Magic Theme Park and spreads over an area of 1.5 acres with state-of-the-art facilities. It was designed under the supervision of magician Mr. Gopinath Muthukad.

There were 54 students and two faculty members Mr. Aravind T.S. and Mrs. Lakshmi R. They were welcomed by the mascot of Magic Planet, a bespectacled young magician Harry named as a tribute to Harry Houdini, the celebrated illusionist. The guest coordinators gave us an introduction about Magic Planet and briefed us on the program schedules.

History of Mystery was the first place followed by Interactive Magic by a young 20-year old magician. He performed some remarkable tricks and tried to involve the entire audience in his acts. It was followed by yet another incredible performance of Close-Up magic at Intimate Magic Theatre. It gave us the opportunity to watch the magic happen by being very close to the magician. He used some of the personal stuffs of the audience like watch, ring, currency notes, coins etc. to perform the acts. Mirror Miracles became the next exciting adventure wherein we were put in a mirror maze and searching the right way out between multiple mirrors with flashing lights became a thrill. It was accompanied by two other mirror involved situations; that is of finding ourselves on a ladder between Hell & Heaven and then in a Topsy Turvy Chair where mirrors gave life to illusions.

The most beautiful part of Magic Planet is the fact that the profit generated would be completely used for charitable purposes. Being the world’s first magic theme park, it has pooled together a huge number of talented performers from around the globe and it’s their teamwork that makes Magic Planet what it is today.

The visit to Magic Planet turned fruitful as the students were able to see and understand in depth about the execution and success of the Blue Ocean Strategy. The application of this strategy helps to stay away from the red occean of the business world.
